Think before you hire?Early in June we booked a car with Rentalcars ( % 0.00) com online, picking the car up at Fuerteventura Airport, Spain on Thursday th ( % 0.00) June at :am and returning it back to the airport at :pm on Monday th ( % 0.00) June ( % 0.00)
As we didn’t want any issues during the rental period we paid extra insurance for FULL PROTECTION, this included: Vehicle collisions, Theft/fire/vandalism, Windshield repairs/replacement, Tire puncture repair/replacement, Undercarriage damage, Loss of use, relocation & other collision-related charges ( % 7.50) Basically, to cover us for any unforeseeable situation and if we did pay for anything else (apart from the fuel) ( % 0.00) The paperwork stipulates that “if you’re charged, RentalCover ( % 0.00) com will refund you” ( % 0.00)
In their email they confirmed that we did NOT have to pay for anything else when colleting the car at Fuerteventura Airport, and we were all set ( % 40.00)
However, when collecting the car, the agent at the desk in Fuerteventura Airport, Dollar counter, would NOT release the car as he insisted that we DID NOT have full insurance cover and that we will have to pay for additional cover ( % 35.00) To this we produced the confirmation email stating our full cover and he informed us that “HIS” system did NOT say that and we had options ( % 35.00)
Option - pay an additional approx ( % 0.00) Euro plus (can't remember the exact figure), which would be refunded if NO damage occurred at all, including chipping, tyre puncture, etc and additional charges might apply ( % 25.00)
Option - pay Euro ( % 0.00) , a Non-refundable amount ( % 0.00) This would exempt us from any and all liabilities, and we were NOT responsible for any other charges ( % -11.25)
We argued with the agent that we had paid FULL insurance but, he would NOT release the car to us until we had opted to either of the options listed above ( % 17.50)
As per the paperwork from Rentalcars ( % 0.00) com, we were informed that RentalCover ( % 0.00) com would refund this amount, so, in the end we HAD to pay a non-refundable sum of Euro ( % 0.00) ( % 0.00) By the way this equates to £ ( % 0.00) and this is the amount I expect in my bank account ( % 0.00)
Since then, I have been in touch with RentalCover ( % 0.00) com/ Rentalcars ( % 0.00) com for our refund of Euro ( % 0.00) numerous times and they keep informing me that the refund has been agreed and a payment of USD ( % 0.00) will be made within working days ( % 0.00)
RentalCover ( % 0.00) com/ Rentalcars ( % 0.00) com I want a refund of my £ ( % 0.00) as this is what has costed me so far ( % 10.00)
I wait for the refund and will calculate my total losses, taking into account the exchange differences and any charges made by the banks ( % 0.00) Date of experience: August , ( % 0.00)
